
For the first time in 542 days, Ventura College Athletics is poised to welcome fans back on campus. On Thursday the Pirate soccer team hosts Golden West College at 8:00 pm at the VC Sportsplex, concluding three games in the 2021 New Balance Community College Showcase. Santa Barbara and Orange Coast will open the showcase at 1:00 pm, followed at 6:00 pm by Hartnell and Cypress. VC plays the marquee game of day one of the three-day event.
As with nearly everything else in a the post-COVID world, there will be a few changes for Pirate fans coming to the games. Admission will be completely cashless, and fans can purchase tickets online (https://ventura.vbotickets.com/events). Admission for the showcase is $5 per day.
Social distancing is encouraged in all areas of the stadium and fans who do not feel well are asked to stay home.
Plans are to have all VC home games live-streamed on at least one platform of our social media, @VCPirateAthletics.
The Ventura County Community College District mandates that masks be worn indoors by vaccinated and unvaccinated guests and also encourages mask wearing outdoors on campus as well. Also, spectators are asked to complete a short health questionnaire online (https://campuscloud.readyeducation.com/#/cb/web-form/2xQgbUG0dbt-dAfvqGTPQg/start) on on their cell phone before coming to campus to watch the games.
QR codes to log on to the health questionnaire and to purchase tickets will both be available at the entrance to the Sportsplex. The same proceedures are also planned for home volleyball agmes beginning Sept. 8 in the Athletic Event Center and home football games beginning Sept. 11 at the Sportsplex.
