
The Ventura College women's soccer team fell behind 1-0 early in the game at Bakersfield Friday afternoon before exploding for five unanswered goals in the 5-1 triumph. Five different Pirates scored in the game, including Lex Sahagian's sixth score of the season. Valeria Lopez, Jazzy Moreno and Monse Hernandez each recorded the first goal of their VC careers while Leslie Torres netted her second goal of the year.
The Renegades got on the board first, netting a goal in the 5th minute of play for the 1-0 lead.
Two minutes later, Lopez leveled the count and Jazzy Moreno gave VC the lead for good in the 10th minute with a 25-yard blast.
L. Torres continued the onslaught for VC (5-1-3) with a goal in the 21st minute off a beautiful corner kick by Moreno. The Pirates led 3-1 at intermission.
Sahagian continued her stellar inaugural season with her sixth goal of the year in the 47th minute off an assist by Melanie Torres.
Hernandez completed the offensive explosion with a goal in the 89th minute of play to set the final 5-1 margin.
The Pirates were dominant throughout the contest, including excellent play from Yahaira Ramirez in the midfield. VC totaled 25 shots on the day, 14 on goal, while BC had five shots, two on target.
Ventura returns home on Tuesday Sept. 24 against Antelope Valley in their final non-conference game of the year. Kickoff with the Marauders is 6:30 pm at the VC Sportsplex.
