The Pirates' women's soccer team shut out visiting Antelope Valley 3-0 Tuesday night at the VC Sportsplex. Ventura (6-1-3) received goals from Daisy Vaca, Lex Sahagian and Valeria Lopez while Sibella Donnelly spent a majority of the game in goal with relief from Janessah Gonzales, The victory is the fifth straight for the Pirates, and their seventh straight game without a defeat.
Ventura took the lead in the 19th minute when Vaca gathered a rebound from Leslie Torres' free kick around the six-yard box and sent it into the back of the net.
Sahagian made in 2-0 in the 27th minute when she rebounded a shot by V. Lopez and sent it into the goal.
The Pirates were dominant in the opening 45 minutes with 14 total shots, nine on goal while limiting the Marauders to three shots.
VC put the match on ice in the 62nd minute when Jazzy Moreno sent a nice through ball to V. Lopez who slotted a shot past the keeper for the 3-0 advantage.
Ventura next opens Western State Conference play on Tuesday Oct. 1, hosting Moorpark at the Sportsplex for a 6:30 pm kickoff.
