The Pirates' women's soccer team posted another 2-0 shutout victory Friday at El Camino College in Torrance. Leslie Torres scored off a corner kick in the 14th minute and Yaraby Herrera netted her fourth goal of the season late to seal the result. It was the second straight 2-0 fixture for Ventura (3-1-3) this week.
Torres made it 1-0 off of a corner kick by Jazzy Moreno in the 14th minute of play. Janessah Gonzales played well in goal for the Pirates with two first half saves behind a solid Pirate defensive effort.
With a razor thin margin, VC was able to hold the Warriors scoreless in the final 45 minutes, again with a great defensive effort. Gonzales turned in another four saves in the second half and Herrera completed the victory with a late unassisted goal.
The Pirates totaled 16 shots in the game with 11 on target while El Camino totaled 10 with six on frame.
The Pirates will next host Cerritos on Tuesday Sept. 17 for a 6:30 pm kickoff at the Sportsplex.
