
The VC volleyball team had a difficult time of things Friday, dropping a three-set decision at Los Angeles Mission College 25-21, 25-12, 25-17. The Pirates struggled offensively at the net as they were limited to 20 kills as a team, led by Shai Daniels with five and Daphne Raymond and Talia Behrens, each with three. Raymond also recorded five blocks in the match and Behrens had four. Daniels and Bryce Swain each had right digs and Natalie Bair handed out eight assists.
The Pirates hung tough in the first set, totaling five service aces and four blocks, but eventually fell to the Eagles 25-21.
Hitting errors led to a 25-17 score in the second set and the Pirates could not find any rhythm in the third, falling 25-12.
Daniels and Bair each had a pair of service aces in the match and Liz Schalde recorded seven assists.
The Pirates (11-9, 5-4) return home on Wednesday Nov. 6 to play Santa Barbara at 6:00 pm.
