
The Pirate golf team produced a runner-up finish at the Western State Conference neutral site match at Crystalaire Country Club in Llano Monday. VC posted a team score of 393 for their second place finish, led by 4-under 76's from Matthew Fisher and Logan Gonzalez. The pair finished in a tie for third individually.
Ventura finished nine strokes behind Canyons in the team standings and another nine strokes ahead of third-place Santa Barbara.
While Fisher and Gonzalez finished in a tie for third place overall, Brandon Flores and Ian Chapital each carded an 80 on the day to tie for 10th. Nick Bublitz posted an 81 and Daniel Darwin came in with an 89.
The Pirates, who sit comfortably in second place in the season-long conference standings, will next travel to the WSC No. 7 event hosted by Antelope Valley at Rancho Vista Golf Course in Palmdale on Monday April 7.
