
The VC golf team continued their strong campaign with a second place finish out of 16 teams at the Riverside Invitational. The Pirates posted a team score of 379, one shot behind Santa Barbara and one shot ahead of Reedley in the competitive contest. For the second time in three weeks, Nick Bublitz went low for Ventura, carding a 4-under 68 to claim medalist honors.
Logan Gonzalez tied for 15th overall with a 4-over 76 for Ventura while Matthew Fisher and Brandon Flores each carded 6-over 78's. Nathan Schultz posted a 7-over 79 while Daniel Darwin scored an 80 on the day.
The team competition was extremely close with the top five teams scoring within five shots of each other. Desert was fourth with a score of 380 and Canyons posted a team mark of 381 to place fifth.
VC resumes Western State Conference play on Monday March 3 at Santa Maria Country Club in an event hosted by Allan Hancock College.
