
The VC golf team had a strong showing Monday in the Western State Conference opener hosted by Glendale. Ventura posted a combined team score of 386, good for second place overall, seven strokes off the pace. Nick Bublitz shot a very good even par 72 to tie for second individually while Logan Gonzalez carded a 76 to tie for sixth. Daniel Darwin and Matthew Fisher also finished in the Top-10 each with a 6-over 78.
Canyons won the event with a team score of 379 while Santa Barbara came in third with a 399.
Other Pirate golfers competing at Oakmont included Brandon Flores, 82, and Nathan Schultz, 86.
Ventura will return home on Monday Feb. 10, hosting the WSC #2 match at River Ridge Golf Course in Oxnard. Play is set to begin at 10:00 am.
