Jazzy Moreno had a goal and an assist as the Pirate soccer team returned home Friday with a 3-0 shutout victory over Cuesta. Sibella Donnelly recorded one save in goal for Ventura (12-3-3, 6-2) and Melanie Torres and Desire Lopez also scored in the triumph.
The Pirates took the early lead when Torres cashed in an assist from Valeria Lopez in the fourth minute of play.
In the closing minutes of the first half, Lopez took a Moreno's corner kick and put in in the back of the net for a 2-0 Pirate advantage.
Moreno scored on a header in the 52nd minute off a beautiful cross from the right side by Jessica Aguilar for the insurmountable 3-0 margin.
VC outshot the Cougars 14-2 and the Pirate put eight on target as compared to one for Cuesta.
Ventura next travels to Allan Hancock on Tuesday Nov. 5 for a 3:00 pm date with the Bulldogs in Santa Maria.
