
The Pirates' women's soccer team continued its strong play Friday with a 2-0 victory over Allan Hancock College . Melanie Torres and Samantha Quinonez each scored goals as VC hosted a number of youth teams on AYSO night at the Sportsplex. Leslie Torres and Daisy Vaca also turned in solid outings for Ventura (9-1-3, 3-0) who stretched their winning streak to eight games.
M. Torres got the Pirates on the board with a goal in the 30th minute of play. L. Torres and Tanaya Moreno each had solid efforts defensively to hold the Bulldogs' attack in check. Ventura led 1-0 at intermission.
Quinonez gave VC some breathing room, taking a cross from Vaca and putting it into the back of the net for the 2-0 final margin.
Ventura totaled 16 shots on the game with nine on target while AHC had two shots on goal, both stopped by goalkeeper Janessah Gonzales.
The Pirates next travel to Woodland Hills on Tuesday Oct. 15 to battle Los Angeles Pierce at 4:00 pm.
