
The Pirates' men's tennis team continued their Western State Conference dominance Thursday with an 8-1 win at Bakersfield. Max Beaudry and Manolo Vanbesien won together in No. 3 doubles then each won their singles matches as double-winners on the day.
Beaudry and Vanbesien made quick work of their opponents in doubles, capturing an 8-0 shutout win. Rafael Matias and Yanis Guerrout followed with an 8-1 win on Court 1 and Yusen Sato and Haru Nakayama posted an 8-2 triumph in No. 2 doubles.
The Pirates demonstrated the depth of their line-up in singles play, clinching their fifth straight WSC win on the year. Jules Marquez Fichet posted a love and love win on Court 5 before Vanbesien clinched the team win in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-1. Leo Pham won his No. 2 singles contest 6-2, 6-1 and Antonio Cardiel captured Court No. 6, love and one. Beaudry won in No. 3 singles, 7-5, 6-2.
Ventura (7-2, 5-0) next travels to NCAA Division III Occidental on Friday Mar. 7.
