
The Pirate golf team tied with Santa Barbara Monday in the Western State Conference No. 8 event at San Dimas Country Club hosted by Citrus College. Ventura won the tiebreaker over the Vaqueros to finish second of the eight WSC teams competing. Matthew Fisher led VC with a 1-under 71, good for a tie for fifth, individually. Logan Gonzalez shot an even-par 72 to help the Pirate effort.
Nick Bublitz shot a 1-over 73 on the day while Daniel Darwin carded a 75. Ian Chapital completed VC's team score with a 77.
Ventura and Santa Barbara tied with team scores of 368, 12 shots behind front-running Canyons. The Pirates' sixth player Brandon Flores carded a 6-over 78 while the Vaqueros' final player did not post a score, giving VC the tiebreaker. Citrus was fourth with a 377.
VC next hits the links on Monday April 21 at Soule Park in Ojai in the WSC No. 9 hosted by College of the Canyons.
