The VC golf team posted a team score of 381 to finish second at the fifth Western State Conference event hosted by Bakersfield at Rio Bravo Country Club. Nick Bublitz and Logan Gonzalez each carded 3-over 75's to lead the Pirate effort.
The Pirates finished six strokes off of first-place Canyons and one stroke ahead of third-place Santa Barbara.
Consistency was the name of the game again for the Pirates with all six golfers scoring below 80 for the second straight week. Bublitz and Gonzalez tied for seventh individually with their 3-over score and Matthew Fisher tied for ninth with 76. Brandon Flores carded a 5-over 77 while Daniel Darwin turned in a 78. Ian Chapital scored 79 on the day.
VC next will travel to Crystalaire Country Club in Llano for the WSC neutral site event on Monday March 17.
