VC softball pitcher Bryanne Magana yielded two hits, walked three and struck out two in the Pirates' 3-0 shutout win at Cal Luthern Monday in Thousand Oaks. Madison Shay hit a pair of doubles and a triple, knocking in all three runs for VC in the victory. Baylany Magana had a hit and a walk and scored a run for Ventura.
The Pirates (5-1) came out quickly, scoring one run in the top of the first inning.
The teams both settled in at that point, putting up zero's on the line score for the next five columns.
Ventura added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh before Br. Magana finished off the Regals in the bottom half of the frame.
Ventura next will travel to Citrus for a non-conference game on Tuesday Feb. 18 at 2:30 pm.
