The VC women's water polo team shot down the Cerritos Falcons 17-3 Saturday in Santa Barbara to conclude the 2024 regular season. Kelsee Espitia scored four goals to lead the Pirates (17-10, 3-2) while Mikela De Aguiar and Ella Montano each netted three scores. Montano added three assists and grabbed five steals in the game and Milla Malesich also recorded five thefts. JoJo Thayne recorded four assists and three steals.
The Pirates overmatched the Cerritos from the beginning, outscoring the Falcons 6-0 in the first quarter and holding a 10-0 lead at halftime.
VC led 14-1 after the end of three quarters before posting the final 17-3 margin.
AnnMarie Patterson added a pair of scores to the Ventura effort and Devin Varela added a pair of steals and an assist. Espitia recorded two assists for VC.
Ventura returns to the pool in the Western State Conference Tournament this upcoming week at the Ventura Aquatic Center.
