The Pirates' women's soccer team maintained its second place standing in the Western State Conference playing frontrunner Santa Barbara to a 1-1 draw Monday at La Playa Stadium. Yaraby Herrera scored the equalizer for the Pirates (13-3-4, 7-2-1) in windy conditions in Santa Barbara.
Much like the first meeting between the two teams, Santa Barbara scored a goal in the first minute of play.
Unlike the last game, however, the Pirates regrouped and kept the Vaqueros scoreless for the remainder of the contest.
Herrera netted the equalizer in the 65th minute off an assist by Jazzy Moreno.
Both teams had their chances at the win with neither able to find the difference maker. The Pirates had 13 shots on the night, seven on goal while SBCC had 12 shots, eight on target.
Ventura will host Los Angeles Pierce College on Wednesday Nov. 13 at 7:00 pm in a make-up of last week's postponed contest. It will be the final regular season home appearance for the Pirates this season.
