The Ventura College women's soccer team completed their Bay Area swing in hot conditions in Saratoga, battling host West Valley to a 1-1 draw Friday afternoon. The Pirates (1-1-3) played well in difficult conditions as Lex Sahagian scored the equalizer in the 86th minute to pull VC even.
Playing their second game in three days on the road, a Pirate miscue led to the Vikings lone score of the game in the third minute. From that point on, however, the VC defense held fast keepin West Valley out of the net, allowing five shots overall with two on frame.
The Pirates, who had seven shots total and five on target, continued their fight until Sahagian was able to punch in the equalizer in the 86th minute of play.
Ventura returns home on Tuesday Sept. 10, hosting Rio Hondo in a 6:00 pm match at the VC Sportsplex.
