The VC women's volleyball team was not messing around Saturday as they dominated visiting Glendale 25-12, 25-9, 25-12 in the Western State Conference Crossover to close the regular season. The Pirates were clicking on all cylinders as they hit a combined .494 at the net, led by Talia Behrens, Shai Daniels, Callie Cahill and Josephine Rausch, all with eight kills each. Daniels led the defense with 15 digs and also had four services aces in the runaway win.
Behrens helped start a 5-1 run for the Pirates in the opening set with a kill and Cahill finished it off with back-to-back winners for an 8-3 VC lead.Cahill's winner made it 10-4 and Daniels got into the act to give the Pirates a13-6 margin. The Vaqueros tried to keep things close, coming to within 16-10 but Taylor Lane and Rausch put a stop to that with consecutive kills. Makena Schaumloeffel's strong serve led to a 20-12 Pirate advantage and Cahill finished off the set with a winner for a 25-12 score.
Daniels had a kill and Daphne Raymond had a block for the early 4-1 lead in the second set. The Pirates then went on a monster run that included a pair of kills from Behrens for a 9-2 edge and a timeout by Glendale. Cahill's winner made it 13-2 and Behrens had another huge hit for a 17-2 Pirate lead. Lexi Brinkman hit an ace of her first serve of the night to put VC ahead 19-3 before Daniels Lane and Brinkman all had kills to bring home the set, 25-9.
The Pirates opened the third set with three straight aces by Daniels, and Raymond's winner made it 6-2. Behrens and Rausch teamed up to make it 8-3 and Behrens followed with two more winners for an 11-3 margin. Ventura continued to dominate as Daniels' winner made it 18-5 before GCC scored seven of the next 10 points to close to within 21-12. Brinkman had kills on three of the final four points leading to the clincher, 25-12.

Skylar Rutherford, Natalie Bair and Liz Schalde handed out 12, 11 and 10 assists, respectively and Bryce Swain turned in six digs on defense. Behrens added three blocks at the net.
The Pirates will now await their playoff seeding to be released in the coming days. The 3C2A Southern California Regional Playoffs will begin on Saturday Nov. 23.
