
The VC women's tennis team defeated Los Angeles Mission College 6-3 Tuesday in Sylmar. Fernanda Gonzales was a double-winner in the victory with a win in No. 6 singles and also earned a point with Dulce Contreras in No. 3 doubles. Lola Tennison Chandra Padua were also a double-winners with a win together No. 2 doubles and triumphs in Nos. 2 and 4 singles, respectively. Kira Branson also won her No. 3 singles match.
The Pirates took a 2-1 lead after doubles play. Tennison and Padua claimed the No. 2 slot with an 8-4 win while Contreras and Gonzales posted an 8-5 victory in No. 3 doubles.
Branson kept the momentum going with a love and one win at No. 3 singles before Tennison made it 4-1 with her 6-3, 6-1 triumph at No. 2 singles. Padua clinched the VC victory with a 6-3, 6-0 win in the No. 4 slot and Gonzales finished off the Eagles winning her No. 6 singles match, 6-4, 6-1.
VC (2-3, 2-2) next travels to Antelope Valley on Thursday Feb. 20.
