
The VC men's tennis team rolled Friday, defeating Mt. San Antonio 9-0 at the VC Tennis Center. Leo Pham led the way with a love, love win at No. 3 singles and he teamed up with Ariitea Cotti-Helme to win in No. 3 doubles. Yanis Guerrout was also a double winner with Rafael Matias in No. 1 doubles, and in No. 1 singles.
The Pirates took a 3-0 lead in doubles play with Matias and Guerrout taking the No. 1 slot, 8-1. Max Beaudry and Manolo Vanbesien won in No. 2 doubles, 8-2, while Pham and Cotti-Helme claimed the No. 3 match, 8-4.
Pham posted a 6--0, 6-0 shutout in No. 3 singles and Cotti-Helme won the No. 2 slot, love and two. Antonio Cardiel made his VC debut with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles and Beaudry won the No. 4 match, 6-3, 6-0. Vanbesien claimed victory in No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-0, and Guerrot win the top match, 6-2, 6-1.
VC will next host NCAA Division III Pomona Pitzer on Saturday Feb. 22.
