
The VC women's tennis team rolled to an 8-1 victory at Antelope Valley on Thursday in Lancaster. Nicole Iannacone and Kira Branson claimed a shutout win at No. 1 doubles to start the day and Fernanda Gonzales was down a set and came back from a 5-0 deficit in the second to claim a 3-set triumph at No. 6 singles.
Iannacone and Branson got the day started with their 8-0 victory at No. 1 doubles and Lola Tennison and Chandra Padua followed with an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles.
Branson was the first to earn a point in singles with her one and love decision at No. 3 before Padua prevailed 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 4 slot. Iannacone clinched the Pirate victory with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at No. 1 singles and Tennison won her No. 2 singles match, 6-3, 6-4.
Dulce Contreras then won 6-0, 7-5 at No. 5 singles before Gonzales' dramatic come-from-behind triumph at No. 6, 2-6, 7-5, 10-7.
Ventura (3-3, 2-2) will next host Mt. San Antonio on Friday Feb. 21 at 2:00pm.
