The Ventura College women's doubles team of Nicole Iannacone and Kira Branson dropped their Western State Conference quarterfinal match Friday at the VC Tennis Center. The pair, seeded No. 6 in the draw, fell to the No. 3-ranked team from Santa Monica, 8-4.
Iannacone and Branson had already qualified for the 3C2A State Championships at The Ojai with a bye in the Round of 32 Tuesday. They then won their Round of 16 match on Thursday. Friday's loss did not dampen the achievements of the duo nor take away from the extension of their season to state.
Iannacone and Branson will be joined at The Ojai by Lola Tennison and Chandra Padua in doubles. Meanwhile, Iannacone, Branson and Tennison advanced to state in singles.
The women's tennis team will find out their 3C2A Southern California Regional Playoff fate on Sunday April 6 for play in the first round on Tuesday April 8.
