
The VC golf team opened the 2025 season at the two-day, 36-hole Pt. Conception Open at La Purisma Golf Club in Lompoc Sunday and Monday. The Pirates totaled a team score of 406/402, 808 to claim second place of the 13 competing teams with Logan Gonzalez posting a 75/79, 154 to tie for fourth place overall with his 3-over score in difficult conditions on Sunday placing him first individually in the opening round. Nick Bublitz also earned a Top-10 finish with his 79/79, 158.
Ventura came in behind Western State Conference rival Canyons and Desert finished third in the team standings. San Joaquin Delta and Fresno rounded out the Top-5 squads.
Daniel Darwin scored a 78/86, 164 over the two days while Matthew Fisher equaled the total with an 84/80, 164. Jimmy Darwin posted scores of 98/92, 190. Ian Chapital scored a 90 in the opening round of the tournament and Brandon Flores scored a 78 in Monday's round. Competing as an individual, Flores added an 84 in the opening round for a 162 total. Ventura's Nathan Schultz shot 88/79, 167 and Stephen Ong carded a 92/87, 179.
