
The VC men's basketball team traveled to Allan Hancock College Wednesday, falling to the Bulldogs, 77-56. Kam'Ron Cigar scored 17 points with five rebounds while Isaiah Dudley netted 13 points in the setback. Bo Dolinsek recorded eight points with four boards and Kevin Hymes handed out four assists.
VC got off to another slow start, falling behind 9-0 and 12-2 in the opening minutes of the game. Hymes hit the Pirates' first bucket with 17:02 left in the first half and Dudley's field goal at the 15:20 mark made it 12-4 for AHC. Ventura was unable to get untracked throughout the opening period and trailed 40-19 at halftime.
The Pirates got some things together in the second half but the damage had been done. Isaiah Dudley scored a 3-point play with 17:39 remaining and Jeremiah Wilson's dunk on the next possession brought VC back to within 46-28. The deficit remained in the 20-point range for the remainder of the game as Ventura dropped the 76-55 decision.
Ventura (11-16, 4-7) will close the 2025 season on Friday Feb. 21 at home against Oxnard. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm at the Athletic Event Center.
