Tuesday September 22 was National Voter Registration Day. In conjunction with that effort, the Ventura College Athletic Department has paired with the Associated Students of Ventura College to encourage 100 percent voter registration among eligible student athletes and 100 percent registration among VC students. The effort is also encouraging all students to become educated voters and participate in this fall's election.
The campaign began with social media posts on VC's Athletics' Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages. All coaches were also asked to encourage all eligible student athletes to register to vote. Students have been encouraged to post to social media using #IRegisteredVC and tag VC Athletics' Twitter (@VCAthletics) and Instagram (@VC_Athletics).

Additionally, coaches have been encouraged to reach out to Coaches 4 Change, a platform that engages, educates, empowers, and evolves the collegiate student athlete on issues of social injustices, systemic racism, and the power of voting. C4C challenges teams to encourage voter registration among their student athletes, and to challenge students athletes to become educated voters. It also asks teams to spread encouragement for voter registration within each community through social media.
The second part of th initiative is to have students post on social media after they voted (with the sticker) using #IVotedVC, thus encouraging participation in our democratic process.
