The VC men's and women's track and field teams are sending four individuals to the 3C2A State Championships this week, including Trevor McCarthy. The freshman from St. Bonaventure High School finished fourth in the javelin at the Southern California Championships last week with a season-best throw of 183'3". He had previously been crowned as the Western State Conference champion in the event on April 26. Additionally, McCarthy ran a leg on the men's 4x100m relay with Micah Contreras, Andrew Stuart and Thomas Dore that came in eighth in the regionals, a mere 1.31 seconds away from first in a razor-close finish. McCarthy also competed in the 100m and 200m for the Pirates this season. For his efforts, Trevor is this week's VC Pirate Student Athlete of the Week award sponsored by M & M Sports.
