Torres, Vaca Named United Soccer Coaches All-Americans
January 12, 2025VC soccer players Leslie Torres and Daisy Vaca were named Junior College Division III All-Americans by the United Soccer Coaches for the 2024 season. The pair were honored last week at the organization's National Convention in Chicago. They become Ventura's 17th and 18th All-American honorees in program history and the first since 2016. -
Torres Named WSC North DPOY, Four 1st Team All-WSC
December 09, 2024Ventura College defender Leslie Torres was named the Western State Conference North Division Defensive Player of the Year in voting by the conference coaches last month. She was joined by Valeria Lopez, Jazzy Moreno, Lex Sahagian and Daisy Vaca as first team All-WSC honorees for the 2024 season. -
Women's Soccer Ends Season at Pasadena
November 26, 2024The VC women's soccer team had a tall order to complete in its playoff game Tuesday afternoon at Pasadena. The No. 15-seeded Pirates received a gift goal in the opening minute of play, but could muster nothing else as the No. 2-seeded Lancers scored twice in rapid succession just before halftime and received a third goal late in VC's 3-1 playoff loss. The setback ended Ventura's season with a solid 16-4-4 record in their 27th post-season appearance in 28 seasons. -
Strong Second Half Moves Pirate Soccer Forward in Playoffs
November 23, 2024On a wet pitch, the Pirate soccer team persevered through a hard fought first half and scored three goals in the second to defeat San Diego Mesa 3-0 in the opening round of the 3C2A Southern California Regional Playoffs Saturday at the VC Sportsplex. Daisy Vaca scored twice and added an assist as No. 7-seeded Ventura (16-3-4) advances in the post-season bracket. -
Women's Soccer to Host Playoff Game
November 21, 2024For the 27th time in the past 28 seasons, the Ventura College women's soccer team is in the post-season. The Pirates (15-3-4) have earned the No. 7 seed in Southern California and will host a second round match-up on Saturday Nov. 23 at 5:00 pm at the VC Sportsplex. Ventura will host the winner of Wednesday's contest between No. 23 San Diego Mesa (12-9-0) and No. 10 Citrus (14-3-2) in Glendora. -
Women's Soccer Caps Regular Season with Rout over Oxnard
November 15, 2024The VC women's soccer team closed the 2024 regular season Friday with a 7-1 victory at Oxnard College. Valeria Lopez and Savannah Sprinkle each scored two goals in the rout while Lex Sahagian, Yaraby Herrera and Jennifer Galindo also found the back of the net for Ventura (15-3-4, 9-2-1). -
Women's Soccer Tops Pierce on Sophomore Night
November 13, 2024Playing in their final regular season appearance at home, the Pirates' women's soccer team posted a 2-1 result over Los Angeles Pierce Wednesday at the Sportsplex. Jessica Aguilar and Jazzy Moreno each recorded goals fo rthe Pirates (14-3-4, 8-2-1). -
Pirates Draw With Vaqueros in Santa Barbara
November 11, 2024The Pirates' women's soccer team maintained its second place standing in the Western State Conference playing frontrunner Santa Barbara to a 1-1 draw Monday at La Playa Stadium. Yaraby Herrera scored the equalizer for the Pirates (13-3-4, 7-2-1) in windy conditions in Santa Barbara. -
Pirates Shutout Bulldogs on the Road
November 05, 2024The VC women's soccer team traveled to Santa Maria Tuesday, coming home with a 4-0 shutout win over Allan Hancock. Lex Sahagian netted a pair of goals in the second half and Jessica Aguilar earned Player o fthe Game Honors with an assist in the triumph. Valeria Lopez and Jazzy Moreno also found the inside of the net for Ventura (13-3-3, 7-2). -
Pirate Soccer Blanks Cuesta, 3-0
November 01, 2024Jazzy Moreno had a goal and an assist as the Pirate soccer team returned home Friday with a 3-0 shutout victory over Cuesta. Sibella Donnelly recorded a pair of saves in goal for Ventura (12-3-3, 6-2) and Melanie Torres and Desire Lopez also scored in the triumph. -

October 25, 2024The Pirates' women's soccer team had a subpar first half Friday, falling at Moorpark 3-0 in Western State Conference North Division play. Lex Sahagian recorded two of VC's three shots on goal in the game while Daisy Vaca also had a shot on target for Ventura (11-3-3,5-2). -
Women's Soccer Back on Track With Shutout over Oxnard
October 22, 2024The VC women's soccer team bounced back from their first defeat in 11 games last week with a 2-0 shutout victory over Oxnard at the Sportsplex Tuesday evening. Lex Sahagian and Yaraby Herrera each netted scored for the Pirates (11-2-3, 5-1) and Sibella Donnelly recorded the shutout in goal. -
Pirates Fall To Vaqueros in WSC Showdown
October 17, 2024Sometimes its just not your day. That was the case Thursday for the Ventura College women's soccer team as they dropped a first-place showdown against Santa Barbara 4-0 at the Sportsplex. The setback ends a nine-game winning streak and an 11-game unbeaten streak fo rthe Pirates (10-2-3). The setback is just the second loss on the year for VC. -
Pirates Pick Up Big Road Win
October 15, 2024The Pirates' women's soccer team picked up a big 2-1 road victory Wednesday in Woodland hills over Los Angeles Pierce. Melanie Torres and Lex Sahagian each scored goals for VC (10-1-3, 4-0) as they won their ninth consecutive game. -
Pirates Blank Hancock, Run Winning Streak to Eight
October 11, 2024The Pirates' women's soccer team continued its strong play Friday with a 2-0 victory over Allan Hancock College . Melanie Torres and Samantha Quinonez each scored goals as VC hosted a number of youth teams on AYSO night at the Sportsplex. Leslie Torres and Daisy Vaca also turned in solid outings for Ventura (9-1-3, 3-0) who stretched their winning streak to eight games. -
Offensive Explosion Fuels Pirates at Cuesta
October 08, 2024The VC women's soccer team experienced an offensive explosion Tuesday at Cuesta, defeating the Cougars 9-0. Eight different players scored with Janessah Gonzales netting a pair of goals in the second half. Samantha Quinonez handed out a pair of assists for Ventura (8-1-3, 2-0) while Emily Ramirez took a pair of corner kicks that resulted in Pirate scores. The offensive output was the highest since VC defeated Hancock 9-1 in 2018. -
Women's Soccer Blanks Moorpark to Begin WSC Play
October 01, 2024The VC women's soccer team had another stellar defensive effort, posting their fifth shutout in the last six games in the 1-0 decision over Moorpark to open Western State conference play Tuesday at the Sportsplex. Lex Sahagian scored in the 63rd minute, her seventh goal in the past eight games, to provide the difference. The Pirates (7-1-3) remain unbeaten in their past eight contests. -
Women's Soccer Blanks AVC, Runs Unbeaten Streak to Seven
September 24, 2024The Pirates' women's soccer team shut out visiting Antelope Valley 3-0 Tuesday night at the VC Sportsplex. Ventura (6-1-3) received goals from Daisy Vaca, Lex Sahagian and Valeria Lopez while Sibella Donnelly spent a majority of the game in goal with relief from Janessah Gonzalez, The victory is the fifth straight for the Pirates, and their seventh gstraight game without a defeat. -
Offensive Explosion Propels Pirates at Bakersfield
September 20, 2024The Ventura College women's soccer team fell behind 1-0 early in the game at Bakersfield Friday afternoon before exploding for five unanswered goals in the 5-1 triumph. Five different Pirates scored in the game, including Lex Sahagian's sixth score of the season. Valeria Lopez, Jazzy Moreno and Monse Hernandez each recorded the first goal of their VC careers while Leslie Torres netted her second goal of the year. -

September 17, 2024The Pirates' women's soccer team posted a 2-0 shutout win over visiting Cerritos Tuesday, stretching their unbeaten streak to five games, and moving their winning streak to three games. Lex Sahagian scored a first half goal and Melanie Torres shut the door on the Falcons with a second-half score in the 2-0 triumph. Sibella Donnelly had a strong game in goal for Ventura (4-1-3). -
Pirates Prevail in Another 2-0 Contest
September 13, 2024The Pirates' women's soccer team posted another 2-0 shutout victory Friday at El Camino College in Torrance. Leslie Torres scored off a corner kick in the 14th minute and Yaraby Herrera netted her fourth goal of the season late to seal the result. It was the second straight 2-0 fixture for Ventura (3-1-3) this week. -
Women's Soccer Blanks Rio Hondo
September 10, 2024Lex Sahagian netted a goal in the 12th minute Tuesday night against Rio Hondo, and Yaraby Herrera scored in the 47th to propel the VC women's soccer team toa 2-0 victory over visiting Rio Hondo at the Sportsplex. Goalkeeper Janessah Gonzales had a pair of saves in recording the shutout while Daisy Vaca and Emily Gonzalez had solid games in the midfield disrupting the Roadrunner attack. -
Pirates Battle the, Vikings in 1-1 Tie
September 06, 2024The Ventura College women's soccer team completed their Bay Area swing in hot conditions in Saratoga, battling host West Valley to a 1-1 draw Friday afternoon. The Pirates (1-1-3) played well in difficult conditions as Lex Sahagian scored the equalizer in the 86th minute to pull VC even. -
Women's Soccer Draws at Evergreen Valley
September 04, 2024A week ago, the Pirates' women's soccer team scored a goal on the final play of the game to pull out a draw against San Francisco. On Wednesday, Evergreen Valley returned the favor, scoring on a penalty kick in stoppage time on what became the final play of the game to secure a 2-2 tie with visiting Ventura in San Jose. Lex Sahagian scored early and Yaraby Herrera had a second half goal before the Hawks came back for the draw with two goals in the final 10 minutes. -
Women's Soccer Falls to Hartnell in Defensive Battle
August 31, 2024The VC women's soccer team was locked in a defensive battle Saturday afternoon against Hartnell in the finale of the New Balance Community College Showcase at the Sportsplex. Unfortunately, the Panthers managed to score one goal to defeat the Pirates, 1-0. Ventura's back line of Daisy Vaca, Jillian Smith, Desire Lopez and Jessica Aguilar all had solid efforts in front of goal keeper Sibella Donnelly in a scoreless first half. -
Aguilar's Late Goal Saves Draw for Pirates
August 29, 2024Jessica Aguilar and the Pirate offense had trouble finding the ball in space Thursday night against San Francisco in the New Balance Community College Showcase at the Sportsplex. The Rams stymied the Pirates for over 90 minutes of play before Aguilar, in a desperation play, moved a lob shot forward in traffic from 25 yards out, over the CCSF goalie's head and into the goal for a 1-1 draw. -
Women's Soccer Opens With Hard-Fought Win
August 23, 2024The VC women's soccer team opened its 2024 season with a hard-fought 2-1 result over College o fthe Canyons Friday at the VC Sportsplex. Lex Sahagian and Yaraby Herrera each scored goals for Ventura (1-0) while Leslie Torres led the defensive effort against the Cougars. Janessah Gonzales and Sibella Donnelly shared goalkeeping duties in the game for the Pirates.
