VC soccer players Leslie Torres and Daisy Vaca were named second team Junior College Division III All-Americans by the United Soccer Coaches for the 2024 season. The pair were honored last week at the organization's National Convention in Chicago. They become Ventura's 17th and 18th All-American honorees in program history and the first since 2016.
Torres, a first-year player from Pacifica High School in Oxnard, was also named the Western State Conference North Division Defensive Player of the Year. She anchored a defense that yielded 21 goals in 24 games, a .88 goals against average, and posted 11 shutouts in the team's 16 victories in 2024. She also added two goals and a pair of assists offensively.
Vaca, a sophomore from Santa Paula High School, was a team leader from her midfield position. She made giant contributions to the Pirates' outstanding defensive effort and also was part of the VC attack scoring four goals with four assists on the year. She was also a first team All-WSC honoree.
The Pirates were 16-4-4 in 2024 and 9-2-1 in conference play. VC finished alone in second place in the conference table and advanced to the 3C2A State Sweet 16 in the playoffs. Ventura also finished the season as the No. 9-ranked team in the country in the final United Soccer Coaches Junior College Division III poll.
