For the 27th time in the past 28 seasons, the Ventura College women's soccer team is in the post-season. The Pirates (15-3-4) have earned the No. 7 seed in Southern California and will host a second round match-up on Saturday Nov. 23 at 5:00 pm at the VC Sportsplex. Ventura will host No. 23 San Diego Mesa (13-9-0) who defeated No. 10 Citrus (14-4-2) 1-0 Wednesday in Glendora.
The Pirates placed second in the Western State North Division with a 9-2-1 conference mark. VC is led offensively by Lex Sahagian who has recorded 13 goals and four assists for 30 points this season. Jazzy Moreno had five scored and 10 assists for 20 points and Melanie Torres has scored five times with seven assists for 17 points. Defensively, Leslie Torres, Desire Lopez and Daisy Vaca have been key components in front of Sibella Donnelly and Janessah Gonzalez sharing time in goal.
San Diego Mesa placed fourth in the Pacific Coast Conference to earn their spot in the post season while Citrus finished third in the WSC South Division. The Pirates have not played either team this season.
