After a long trip to the Bay Area, the Pirates' soccer team made it worth while with a 2-1 victory over Evergreen Valley College in San Jose. Alix Tirado scored both goals for VC (4-0-0), giving her six score sin the first four games of the year. Sasha Franco assisted the second goal while Kambria Haughton and Aaliyah Lopez combined time in goal for the win.
Tirado scored her first goal in the 19th minute. She intercepted a pass deep in the Hawks' end before slotting a shot into the right corner of the net.
In the 35th minute, Franco made the assist to Tirado, who tapped the ball into the goal for a 2-0 Ventura advantage.
The Hawks came back with a goal in the 70th minute, but Ventura held on for the 2-1 triumph.
VC had 11 shots total in the game while Haughton and Lopez combined to turn back eight EVC shots on goal.
The Pirates will take on Hartnell College on Saturday Sept. 11 on the road with a 12:00 pm kickoff in Salinas.
