
After a scoreless first half, Ventura College forward Alix Tirado found the net twice in the second to lead the Pirates' women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory at Moorpark Tuesday afternoon. VC goal keeper Isa Garcia totaled four saves to help preserve the narrow win over the Raiders.
The teams battled to a 0-0 tie over the first 45 minutes of play at Raider Pitch.
Moorpark got on the board first in early in the second half, sneaking a shot into the right side of the net for a 1-0 lead.
Ventura (5-5-3, 3-1) found the equalizer in the 66th minute of play. Tirado settled a rebound from a shot by Sasha Franco, placing it into the back of the net to level the score.
Tirado got her second goal of the game in the 88th minute, converting a penalty kick to set the final 2-1 margin.
Ventura was aggressive offensively with 13 shots, four on goal. Moorpark countered with seven shots, five on frame.
The Pirates will return home on Friday Oct. 7 to face Los Angeles Pierce at 5:30 pm at the Sportsplex.
