Sophomore Dakota Thompson played another outstanding defensive game as the Pirate soccer team shutout Santa Monica 1-0 on the road Friday.

WOMEN'S SOCCER: Coming off their first loss of the season, the Pirate soccer team rebounded with a hard-fought 1-0 win at Santa Monica College on Friday. Macey Herrera scored her fifth goal in five matches as a Pirate, finding the back of the net in the 12th minute off of an assist by AJ Tewes. Goal keeper Hailee Powell recorded the shutout for Ventura (4-1-0) with another strong defensive performance by Dakota Thompson.
The Pirates will host another ranked opponent, San Diego Miramar College, on Tuesday Sept. 17 at 6:00 pm at the Sportsplex before taking a break to get ready for Western Conference play beginning in October.
