Alix Tirado scored a hat-trick, plus one on Friday in Ventura's 4-1 round-up of the LA Pirece College Brahmas at the Sportsplex. The sophomore scored her first goal two minutes into the game and the final one with 13 minutes remaining as VC earned its third Western State Conference win in four outings. Isa Garcia had five saves in goal to earn the win defending the net.
Tirado got things rolling early with a goal in the second minute of play off an assist by Jaemi Toledo. Her second goal came in the 27th minute off a cross by Alyssa Cornwell. VC led 2-0 at halftime.
The Brahmas got on the board with a goal in the 61st minute to cut the Pirates' lead in half.
Tirado reestablished the margin nine minutes later scoring after a through ball by Maggie Mordecai. Denisse Garcia assisted Tirado's fourth goal of the night in the 77th minute to set the final 4-1 score.
In total, Ventura had 13 shots with nine on goal while Pierce recorded 10 shots with six on target.
Ventura next hosts Oxnard on Tuesday Oct. 11 at 6:30 pm at the VC Sportsplex. It will be Youth Sports Night with any children 14 and under wearing a youth sports jersey or sports camp shirt, and a parent, receiving free admission.
