The Ventura College Pirate soccer team fought hard, but ultimately fell 2-1 to a physical Fresno City College side Saturday afternoon at the VC Sportsplex. Freshman Michelle Rios scored VC's lone goal on the afternoon.
Ventura begins the second round of Western State Conference play on Tuesday Oct. 28, hosting Moorpark at 6:00 pm at the VC Sportsplex.
