The Pirate soccer team traveled to San Luis Obispo for its regular season finale Friday, coming home with a 6-0 victory over Cuesta College. Audrey Castillo netted three goals and Anna Escobar scored a pair to lead the way for Ventura (10-6-5, 8-1-1). Jasmin Ambriz had three assists in the game while Aracely Castro recorded three saves in the shutout win.
Escobar got the Pirates on the board with a successful penalty kick in the 24th minute. Castillo followed in the 33rd minute with a goal from an Aleesa Ramirez assist and then scored in the 42nd minute with help from Ambriz. Escobar found the back of the net just before halftime with an assist by Bailey Ingersol. The Pirates led 4-0 at intermission.
Castillo netted her hat trick in the 28th minute, also assisted by Ambriz, and Paulina Aldrete finished the scoring with an 82nd minute-goal with Ambriz collecting her third helper of the afternoon.
The Pirates had 26 shots in the match with 13 on goal.
Ventura finishes in second place in the Western State Conference North Division, three points behind Santa Barbara. VC awaits its playoff berth, slated to be announced in the coming week.
