A trio of Pirate freshmen led VC's honorees on the 2017 All-Western State Conference North Division soccer team. defender Carina Cardenas and forward Audrey Castillo and midfielder Justine Reyes all earned first team All-WSC distinction in voting by the conference coaches following the season. The Pirates ended the 2017 season in the first round of the CCCAA So Cal Regional Playoffs.
Castillo was the Pirates leader on offense with eight goals and three assists on the season for 19 overall points while Cardenas anchored the Ventura defense. Reyes recorded a pair of assists in play from her midfield position.
Two more first-year players, forward Paulina Aldrete and defender Kayla Simmons Allon were named second team all-conference. Sophomore midfielder Esmeralda Murillo and freshman defender Eleni Borjon earned Honorable Mention All-WSC awards.
