For the second straight year, VC forward Alix Tirado has earned the Western State Confere3nce North Division Offensive Player of the Year Award as voted by the conference coaches last month. She is joined by Ashley Tiscareno and Alyssa Cornwell on the All-WSC first team for the 2022 season for the Pirates.
Tirado, a sophomore and Moorpark High School alumna, again led the Pirates offensively with 18 goals and eight assists on the season. She ended her two-year career with 105 points, fourth all-time in the VC record books. Tirado earned her second straight Offensive Player of the Year honor.
Tiscareno, a Channel Islands High School product continued to lead VC defensively. The sophomore followed up her Defensive Player of the Year campaign in 2021 with another outstanding season of play. She scored a goal with two assists while anchoring the back of the Pirate defense in earning first team All-WSC honors for the 2022 season.
Cornwell, a Ventura High School graduate, emerged as another Pirate scoring threat in her freshman season. She netted six goals and handed out three assists on the year and was also named first team All-WSC
Sophomores Sofia Preciado (Oxnard HS) and Sasha Franco (Oxnard HS) both earned second team All-WSC nods while sophomores Kambria Haughton (Ventura HS) and Valerie Hernandez (Fillmore HS) secured honorable mention All-WSC awards.
The Pirates went 10-9-4 on the year with a 7-4-1 record in conference play. VC defeated Citrus 4-0 on the road in the first round of the playoffs before falling in the regional quarterfinals.
