Sagara Falls in Marathon Match in State Quarterfinals
April 23, 2016It took all three sets and three hours and 22 minutes before Marika Sagara saw her championship aspirations come to an end. Despite a valiant effort, the Pirate freshman fell in the quarterfinals of the CCCAA State Championships at The Ojai Tournament Saturday. -
Sagara Reaches Elite Status for Pirate Tennis
April 22, 2016VC freshman Mariko Sagara reached elite status Friday with a pair of wins in the CCCAA State Championships at The Ojai Tournament. With the two victories, the draw's No. 3-seed advanced to the Elite Eight round, with the quarterfinals scheduled for Saturday Apr. 23 at The Ojai Athleic Club.

Sagara, Powell Advance at The Ojai
April 21, 2016No. 3-seed Mariko Sagara advanced to the round of 32 in singles play at the CCCAA State Tennis Championships at The Ojai Thursday. Meanwhile, she also teamed up with doubles partner Jessica Powell to move to the same level in doubles competition at the state championships.

Sagara Claims WSC Singles Crown
April 14, 2016Pirate freshman Mariko Sagara completed her run through the Western State Conference with a pair of wins Thursday, claiming the individual singles championship at the VC Tennis Center. She now has a mark of 20-2 this season, headed to the CCCAA State Championships at The Ojai.

Sagara Reaches WSC Semifinal
April 02, 2016Mariko Sagara won her quarterfinal match Saturday at the Western State Cofnerence Championships in Ventura. The top-seed in the draw advanced love and love and will play in the conference semifinals, and hopefully finals on Friday April 8 beginning at 12:00 pm at the VC Tennis Center.

April 01, 2016Pirate freshman Mariko Sagara lost but one game in two matches in singles play, and teamed up with Jessica Powell in doubles to shutout their opponent marching into the final eight in both on day one of the Western State Conference Tennis Championships in Ventura Friday.

Ventura College to Host WSC Tennis Chanmpionships
March 31, 2016Ventura College is set to host the 2016 Western State Conference Tennis Championships Friday April 1 and Saturday April 2, finishing up with men's ans women's singles and doubles championships on Friday April 8. Preliminary rounds on April 1 and 2 will be held at the Ventura College Tennis Center and at El Camino Real Park.

Pirates Women's Tennis Win Final WSC Match
March 22, 2016Playing host to Bakersfield College to wrap up their Western State Conference play the Ventura College women's tennis team picked up a 7-2 win. Mariko Sagara, Jessica Powell, Jia Wiebe and Theresa Doal were winners on the singles and doubles side of play. Wiebe allowed just two points in singles play.

Women's Tennis Wins in Convincing Fashion
March 17, 2016The Ventura College women's tennis team hosted Santa Monica College and were winners 8-1. Ventura claimed all three sets of doubles play and won five of the six matches on the singles side. Jia Wiebe and Megan Fleming picked up wins on both the singles and doubles sides of play. Fleming won her singles match without dropping a point.

March 15, 2016The Ventura College women's tennis team traveled to Glendale to take on Glendale College and fell 8-1. Mariko Sagara continued her stellar season at No. 1 singles picking up a dominant straight sets win. The Pirates doubles teams played two close matches at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, but fell to GC.

Women's Tennis Wins Nail Biter Over San Diego Mesa
March 12, 2016On a cool Saturday afternoon the Ventura College women's tennis team played a hotly contested match against San Diego Mesa scratching out a 5-4 win. Ventura rode the strong performances of Jia Wiebe and Megan Fleming who teamed up to win their No. 2 doubles match and then Wiebe earned a win at No. 3 singles. Theresa Doal was a winner in both doubles and singles play.

Women's Tennis Falls in Nail Biter to Santa Barbara
March 10, 2016Traveling north to Santa Barbara the Ventura College women's tennis team fell 5-4 to SBCC in a WSC match up. Ventura was able to claim two of the three doubles matches. The No. 1 doubles of Mariko Sagara and Jessica Powell claimed a 8-5 win. Jia Wiebe and Megan Fleming were 9-8 winner at No. 2 doubles.

Women's Tennis Earns Dominant WSC Win
March 08, 2016The Ventura College women's tennis team played host to Antelope Valley in a Western State Conference match up and picked up a 8-1 win. VC swept doubles play lead by the team of Mariko Sagara and Jessica Powell with an 8-1 win in No. 1 doubles. Jia Wiebe and Megan Fleming earned a 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles. At No. 3 doubles the team of Theresa Doal and Tricia McClain won by a score of 8-5.

Women's Tennis Earns Third WSC Win Over Bakersfield
March 01, 2016Following a tough loss in their last match the Ventura College women's tennis team responded with a 6-3 win over Bakersfield College. Mariko Sagara remained undefeated in conference play with a straight sets win at No. 1 singles. Jessica Powell and Jia Wiebe were winners in both singles and doubles play.

February 26, 2016Traveling to Orange County to take on Saddleback the Ventura College women's tennis team dropped a 5-4 decision. Mariko Sagara won at No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles for the Pirates. Jia Wiebe picked up a straight sets win at No. 3 singles.

Pirates Women's Tennis Doubles Up Santa Monica For Win
February 25, 2016The Ventura College women's tennis team travels to Santa Monica and scores a 6-3 win, their second Western State Conference win of the season. Theresa Doal was a winner at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles. Mariko Sagara picked up wins at No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles. Sagara and Doal did not allow a point in singles play.

Women's Tennis Comes Up Short Against Glendale
February 23, 2016Ventura College's womens tennis team went on the road to match up with Glendale College for a WSC match. Ventura fell 7-2, but were able to win both the No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles match ups, but unable to win at the other spots. Mariko Sagara claimed wins at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles.

February 18, 2016The Ventura College women's tennis team dropped a 5-4 decision against Santa Barbara City in Santa Barbara. Ventura picked up wins at No. 1 doubles and then again at No. 1 singles, No. 3 singles and finally at No. 6 singles. Mariko Sagara was victorious on the doubles and singles side of the day.

Women's Tennis Claims Their Second Win of Season
February 16, 2016The Ventura College women's tennis team played host to Antelope Valley and finished with a 7-2 victory their second of the year. Ventura lost just one match on the singles side and one on the doubles side. Mariko Sagara paired with Jessica Powell to win their No. 1 doubles match and Sagara swept her No. 1 singles contest.

February 13, 2016The Ventura College women's tennis team completed play in the North/South challenge by splitting a pair of matches. In their morning match up the Pirates dropped a close 5-4 decision to Fresno. Responding in the final match of the weekend with a 5-1 win over Chabot. Mariko Sagara claimed a pair of wins at No. 1 singles and was a part of a split of wins at No. 1 doubles.

February 12, 2016The Ventura College women's tennis team dropped their home opener of the 2016 season with a 5-3 loss to De Anza.. Jia Wiebe won her singles match as the Pirates No. 3 player. The Pirates claimed two singles matches and one doubles match.

Pirates Women Tennis Falls at Riverside
February 04, 2016Ventura College women's tennis team opened their 2016 team by traveling to Riverside College and were defeated 9-0. The Pirates were able to put forth a great effort on the doubles side of the match, but just were not able to overcome the Tigers.
