VC's top doubles pair of Talia Lieb and Nell Elaerts claimed second place in the Western State Conference championships completed Tuesday at the VC Tennis Center. The duo fell to the top-seeded team from LA Mission in the final match of the four-day event.
Lieb and Elaerts dropped the first set of the championship match 6-1 before fighting back, falling in the second 7-6. With their runner-up finish, the pair will advance to the CCCAA State Championships at The Ojai beginning April 27.
Alexis Schmidt and Elizabeth Nguyen also qualified for state earlier in the tournament while Lieb and Elaerts also will play at The Ojai in singles.
