
The Ventura College women's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 sweep over Antelope Valley Thursday at the VC Tennis Center. After three easy victories in doubles, play, Belladora Moga clinched the win in No. 4 singles and Laura Rubio closed out the sweep with a hard fought triumph in the No. 6 match.
In doubles play, Talia Lieb and Nell Elaerts dominated their opponents with an 8-1 win. Marcie McTigue and Moga teamed up for an 8-2 win in the No. 3 doubles match while Alexis Schmidt and Elizabeth Nguyen won in the No. 2 slot, 8-3.
Schmidt made quick work of her opponent in No. 3 singles, winning 6-1, 6-1 before Moga clinched the match over the Marauders with a 6-4, 6-3 victory in the No. 4 singles contest. Lieb then posted a love and one win in No. 1 singles before Elaerts won in the No. 2 slot, 6-4, 7-5. Nguyen won her No. 5 singles match-up 6-3, 6-2 before Rubio secured the sweep with her 6-4, 5-7, 10-3 win in No. 6 singles.
The Pirates have a quick turnaround, traveling to Orange Coast on Friday March 24 to face the Pirates of the South at 2:00 pm in Costa Mesa.
