The VC women's tennis team traveled the Grapevine Tuesday, falling at Bakersfield 7-2 in Western State Conference play. Nicole Iannacone and Chrystelle Aguiar each won singles matches for the Pirates on the day.
Ventura (6-9, 4-7) fell behind 3-0 in doubles, but not without a fight. The No. 3 pair of Aguiar and Beryllyn Paz fought to the end of their 9-8 defeat in the No. 3 slot.
The Renegades won the Nos. 6 and 3 singles matches to clinch the victory before Aguiar gave VC a boost with her 6-3, 6-1 triumph at No. 5. Iannacone prevailed in the final decision of the day in a marathon 7-6 (7-5), 6-7 (3-7), 10-5 victory at No. 2 singles.
The Pirates will next head to Lancaster to take on Antelope Valley on Thursday March 21.
