The VC women's tennis team won their regular season finale 8-1 at Santa Monica on Tuesday. Marcie McTigue and Dee Emami collectively gave up one game in capturing their doubled match and their individual singles matches. Nell Elaerts, Belladora Moga and Laura Rubio were also double winners against the Corsairs.
The Pirates took a big lead in doubles play, sweeping the three matches. McTigue and Emami blanked their opponents in No. 3 doubles, 8-0, while Moga and Rubio won in the No. 2 match, 8-4. Talia Lieb and Elaerts completed the doubles sweep in the No. 1 slot with a hard fought 9-7 win.
Elaerts won her No. 2 singles contest 6-3, 6-2 and Moga posted a 6-2, 6-3 triumph at No. 3. Rubio posted a two and love win in No. 4 singles and McTigue recorded a one and love triumph in the No. 5 singles match. Emami closed the big win with a love and love victory in the No. 6 singles match.
The Pirates next will host the Western State Conference singles and doubles championships beginning on Thursday March 30.
