The Ventura College women's soccer team has qualified for the post season for the 23rd time n its 24-year existence. The Pirates (12-6-3) have been seeded No. 10 in the Southern California Regionals and will head to No. 7 Santa Barbara (12-6-3) to begin post-season play. The Pirates and Vaqueros have already tangled twice this season with SBCC prevailing 2-1 both on Oct. 1 and Nov. 10.
Ventura is having one of its best defensive seasons in over a decade. Their 16 goals against this season is the lowest since the team gave up 13 goals in 2008. The Pirates have not yielded more than two goals in a single game all season, and they have posted 10 shutouts. VC finished third in the WSC North with a mark of 7-4-1.
Santa Barbara, meanwhile, has been hot as of late, winning their last four matches by a combined score of 15-1. They are unbeaten in their last 10 outings (8-0-2) and captured their third straight Western State Conference North Division crown with a conference mark of 9-1-2.
Kickoff of the first round playoff match is scheduled for 7:00 pm Saturday Nov. 23 at La Playa Stadium in Santa Barbara.
