For the 21st time in the 22-year history of Ventura College women's soccer, the Pirates are headed to the playoffs. Based on the strength of a schedule that featured matches against eight teams ranked among the Top-20 in the nation, VC (9-11-2) received the No. 19-seed in the 19-team Southern California Regionals, and will travel to No. 14 Fullerton (11-6-3) on Thursday Nov. 16 for a 2:00 pm Play-In round match.
Ventura finished in third place in the Western State Conference North Division with a conference mark of 4-4. The Hornets, meanwhile, were fourth in the Orange Empire Conference, posting an 8-5-3 mark in conference play.
"It's been a great learning year for our 24 freshmen and three sophomores," said Ventura head coach Steve Hoffman, who is the only head coach in the program's 22-year history. "(The Playoffs) was one of our goals from day one. Our record does not show the quality of our team."
The winner of Thursday's match will travel to No. 3 Rio Hondo on Saturday Nov. 18.
