WSOCCER: Ventura College Head Women's Soccer Coach Steve Hoffman is excited to announce five players from the 2013 squad have committed to play soccer at four-year colleges in the fall of 2014. Four sophomores will be transferring, including Guadalupe Magaña, who will attend Newberry College (SC) in the fall while Amanda Tewes will play at Oregon State. Dakota Thompson will attend Colorado Christian and Taylor C'debaca is moving on to Marymount California University. Freshman Ashley Borel will transfer to Cal State Bakersfield.
Sophomore midfielder Guadalupe Magaña was a co-captain for the past two seasons for the Pirates. She was also selected as an NSCAA first-team All-American and was also awarded first-team All-Western State Conference honors for two seasons (2012 and 2013). Magaña has signed a letter of intent to attend Newbury College in South Carolina to play for the Wolves on an athletic scholarship.
Amanda Tewes, a sophomore midfielder, was also a co-captain for the last two years and an NSCAA All-West second team selection in 2013. She was also awarded first-team All-WSC honors in her freshman and sophomore years (2012 and 2013). Tewes has signed a scholarship with Oregon State University and will play in the Pac-12 Conference with the Beavers in the fall.
Sophomore defender Dakota Thompson was a second-team All-WSC selection in 2012 and was selected as the VC Academic Award winner in 2013. She has signed a letter of intent to attend Colorado Christian University in the fall on an athletic and academic scholarship.
Taylor C'debaca, a sophomore forward, was a first-team All-WSC honoree in 2013 and also team co-captain. Freshman midfielder Ashley Borrell was selected as the team's Most Valuable Player on offense and earned a second-team All-WSC selection in 2013. She has signed a letter of intent to attend Cal State Bakersfield in the fall with an athletic and academic scholarship.
