VC Athletics 13th in California in NATYCAA Cup
August 12, 2024The Ventura College Athletic Department claimed its 14th Top-13 finish in 19 years, placing 13th in California in the 2023-24 all-sports National Association of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) Cup standings. Pirate Athletics totaled 106 points overall, besting its 105.5 points earned in 2022-23 that placed 12th. Ventura was also 17th for the second straight year in the Daktronics Cup Standings with two-years schools from California, Oregon and Washington. -
VC Lists 70 transfers to 4-Year Schools
August 01, 2024The Ventura College Athletic Department is proud to announce the transfer of 71 student athletes to four-year schools following their time with the Pirates. 48 of those transfers plan to continue their sport with 34 earning athletic scholarships. The VC class of 2024 will transfer to 48 different schools in 19 different states across the country. Additionally, 17 of the Pirate alumni have earned academic scholarships at their new schools.

Higgins, Jacinto Earn All-WSC Honors
May 21, 2024Pirate freshmen Savanna Higgins and Jennie Jacinto have both been named All-Western State Conference by in voting by the WSC North Division softball coaches following the 2024 regular season. Higgins earned first team all-WSC honors while Jacinto was named second team all-conference.

Softball Closes Season with Victory
April 23, 2024The Pirate softball team closed he 2024 season with a bang, posting a 14-3 triumph at Santa Monica Tuesday afternoon. Savanna Higgins had a double and a triple with a run scored and two runs batted in and Jennie Jacinto had three hits and a walk with one RBI and three runs scored. Chelsea Trejo allowed three runs, one earned, over seven innings worked in the pitcher's circle for Ventura, who finished the season with seven wins in their final 13 games.

Pirate Rally Falls Short in 2024 Home Finale
April 18, 2024The VC softball team scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh and had the potential game-tying run at the plate with no outs before falling to Allan Hancock 6-4 Thursday in their 2024 home finale. Haylie Lopez had a pair of hits, including a two-RBI single in the final at-bat to lead Ventura. Chelsea Trejo and Jennie Jacinto also recorded two hits each in the setback.

Ventura Captures 4-2 Victory at Oxnard
April 16, 2024The Ventura College softball team captured a 4-2 victory at Oxnard on Tuesday, sweeping the season series against the Condors. Jennie Jacinto led the way with a pair of hits, a stolen base and two runs scored while Savanna Higgins was 2-3 with a sacrifice fly, one run scored and one run batted in. Chelsea Trejo went the distance in the pitcher's circle to pick up the win for the Pirates.

April 11, 2024The Pirate softball team dropped an 8-0 decision to Moorpark Thursday in Western State Conference play at the VC Softball Complex. Savanna Higgins, Chelsea Trejo and Kiara Harrison all recorded hits for Ventura in the setback.

VC Softball Drops Decision at Cuesta
April 09, 2024The Pirate softball team traveled to San Luis Obispo Tuesday, dropping an 11-3 decision to host Cuesta in Western State Conference play. Alyssa Jacinto had a pair of hits and two runs batted in for VC and Chelsea Trejo also recorded two hits, including a double, with an RBI.

Pirate Softball Continues Roll at LA Valley
April 05, 2024The VC softball team continued their roll Friday with a 15-5 six-inning win at Los Angeles Valley, the Pirates' fifth win in their past seven games. Victoria Rodrigues came on as a pinch hitter in the top of the sixth and had two hits and three runs batted in while Savannah Higgins recorded two hits, including a home run, with three runs scored and three RBI.

VC Softball Runs Past LA Pierce
April 04, 2024The Ventura College softball team raced to a 13-0 five-inning victory over Los Angeles Pierce Thursday at the VC Softball Complex. Jennie Jacinto had three hits, including a double, and scored twice and Kaliona Hernandez recorded a pair of hits with two runs scored. Alyssa Jacinto also had a pair of hits and a run batted in while Kiara Harrison totaled three RBI in the game on two hits while scoring a pair of runs. Chelsea Trejo hit a two-run home run and also pitched a complete game to pick up the win.

Pirate Softball Drops Narrow Home Decision to SBCC
April 02, 2024The Ventura College softball team kept the game close Tuesday, but could not get anything going offensively in their 4-0 setback against Santa Barbara at the VC Softball Complex. Alexyss Campos and Chelsea Trejo each had hits for the Pirates Trejo also had a solid pitching effort, scattering nine hits over seven innings in keeping VC close to the Vaqueros.

Trejo Leads Ventura Past Santa Monica
March 28, 2024Chelsea Trejo led the Pirates softball team to a 12-2 victory Thursday at the plate and in the pitcher's circle. The freshman had two hits in the game with two runs scored and a run batted in while pitching a complete game, yielding three hits, striking out four and giving up two runs. Haylie Lopez had a pair of hits, including a double, and two RBI and Savanna Higgins hit a solo home run in Ventura's triumph.

Higgins Powers Pirates Past Chaffey
March 27, 2024Savanna Higgins had a great day leading the Pirate softball team to an 8-5 victory over visiting Chaffey Wednesday. The VC shortstop was 2-4 with an RBI single and a 3-run home run in back-to-back innings to lead Ventura to the triumph. Pitcher Chelsea Trejo navigated through a 15-hit Chaffey offensive attack, allowing five runs to pick up the win in the circle.

Softball Drops Road Game at Hancock
March 26, 2024The Pirate softball team dropped a 9-1 decision at Allan Hancock Tuesday in Santa Maria. Six players all had one hit each for Ventura with Jennie Jacinto knocking in Haylie Lopez for VC's lone run.

Ventura Softball Defeats Oxnard 6-3
March 21, 2024It was a great day to have a great day for the Ventura College softball team as the Pirates defeated visiting Oxnard 6-3 Thursday. Alexyss Campos hit a sacrifice fly and an RBI triple to knock in four runs while Jennie Jacinto had a pair of hits, including a double, with two runs scored and a run batted in to lead VC to victory. Chelsea Trejo pitched a complete game, scattering eight hits and allowing three runs while striking out five for the Pirates.

March 18, 2024The Pirate softball team dropped a 9-2 decision at Santa Barbara Monday afternoon in Western State Conference play. Alyssa Jacinto recorded a pair of hits with a run batted in and Savanna Higgins had a hit, stole a base and scored a run in the setback. Jade Loeffler was 1-2 on the day with a pair of walks and an RBI.

Jacinto's late home run not enough for Pirates
March 14, 2024Pirate catcher Jennie Jacinto hit a 3-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning, but her heroics were not enough as the Pirate softball team dropped a 6-5 decision to Cuesta Thursday at the VC Softball Complex. Savanna Higgins contributed a pair of hits, a run scored an a run batted in and Kiara Harrison also had two hits and scored a run for Ventura. Chelsea Trejo limited the Cougars to six earned runs in the setback from the pitcher's circle.

March 11, 2024The Pirate softball team dropped a decision to visiting Citrus Monday in a make-up game at the VC Softball Complex, the first of four games this week for VC. Jennie Jacinto, Jade Loeffler, Alyssa Jacinto and Kaliona Hernandez all had hits for Ventura in the game.

Softball Falls Twice at East Los Angeles
March 09, 2024The Pirate softball team dropped a heartbreaker in extra innings to host East Los Angeles Saturday before falling to Fullerton in the nightcap of their two-game day in Monterey Park. Savanna Higgins had a pair of hits with a run scored and two runs batted in for Ventura and Jade Loeffler recorded two hits with an RBI. Chelsea Trejo and Kaliona Hernandez also registered two hits each on the day.

February 27, 2024The VC softball team dropped its home game with College of the Canyons Tuesday at the VC Softball Complex. Savanna Higgins had a hit and scored a run for the Pirates and Kaliona Hernandez had a hit and an RBI.

February 22, 2024The Ventura College softball team dropped a 15-7 decision against Antelope Valley Thursday at the VC Softball Complex. Jennie Jacinto was 2-4 on the day with a run scored and a run batted in while sister Alyssa Jcinto also had a pair of hits with an RBI. Savanna Higgins hit an RBI triple for VC and Alexyss Campos recorded a pair of runs batted in.

Pirate Softball Makes 2024 Home Debut
February 16, 2024After nine straight games on the road, the Pirate softball team made their inaugural appearance at the VC Softball Complex, falling to Pasadena City College 10-1. Jennie Jacinto led Ventura with three hits in the game while Savanna Higgins and Jade Loeffler also recorded hits in the game. Kiara Harrison scored VC's lone runs, sent home by Raylene Reyes.

February 13, 2024The VC softball team held an early lead, but could not hold it in their 6-1 defeat at Cerritos Tuesday. Alyssa Jacinto hit an RBI double for the Pirates' score against the Falcons.

Softball Has Difficult Trip to San Diego
February 09, 2024The Ventura College softball team had a difficult trip to San Diego over the weekend, falling twice to San Diego Mesa on Friday before dropping a decision at Southwestern on Saturday. Savanna Higgins led the Pirates with four hits on the weekend, including a home run, and two runs scored with a run batted in. Alyssa Jacinto had three RBI in the three games for VC.

February 02, 2024The VC softball team is still searching for its breakthrough after a narrow 1-0 decision against Santiago Canyon Friday in Orange. Alyssa Jacinto had a pair of hits to lead Ventura at the plate while Chelsea Trejo allowed just three hits and one earned run over six innings of work in the circle to pick up the hard-luck loss.

Softball Falls in Walk-Off at Victor Valley
January 31, 2024The Pirate softball team dropped a 9-8 decision in walk-off fashion Wednesday afternoon at Victor Valley College in Victorville. Savanna Higgins led the VC attack with a 4-4 day, including a double, triple and walk with one runs scored and one run batted in and Alyssa Jacinto also had a 4-4 day with a double and an RBI. Raylene Reyes hit a single and a double with an RBI and a run scored while Alexyss Campos had a pair of hits with three runs scored and one RBI.

January 27, 2024The Pirate softball team dropped a pair of games Saturday to close out the Glendale Tournament. VC fell to San Diego Mesa 17-3 in five innings before falling short against Modesto, 10-7. Jennie Jacinto had five hits on the day with two runs batted in and two runs scored. Raylene Reyes recorded four hits and Savanna Higgins hit a home run in the night cap.

January 26, 2024The Ventura College softball team opened the 2024 season Friday with a 10-2 setback against Antelope Valley at the Glendale Tournament. Jennie Jacinto and Kaliona Hernandez had hits for the Pirates and Jacinto and Raylene Reyes each scored runs. Chelsea Trejo made the start in the circle for Ventura (0-1).
