After nine straight games on the road, the Pirate softball team made their inaugural appearance at the VC Softball Complex, falling to Pasadena City College 10-1. Jennie Jacinto led Ventura with three hits in the game while Savanna Higgins and Jade Loeffler also recorded hits in the game. Kiara Harrison scored VC's lone runs, sent home by Raylene Reyes.
Ventura fell behind 4-0 entering the bottom of the third before the Pirate offense got something going. Harrison reached base on a fielder's choice for the first out of the inning and moved to third on J. Jacinto's single in the next at bat. Reyes then knocked in Harrison reaching first on an0other fielder's choice. Higgins followed with another single, but the Pirates could not extend the rally.
Unfortunately, that was all the offense VC could muster as the Lancers plated five runs in the fourth and another in the fifth to secure the 5-inning win.
The Pirates are next scheduled to travel to Santa Ana on Wednesday Feb. 21.
