
Pirate freshmen Savanna Higgins and Jennie Jacinto have both been named All-Western State Conference by in voting by the WSC North Division softball coaches following the 2024 regular season. Higgins earned first team all-WSC honors while Jacinto was named second team all-conference.
Higgins, a Ventura High School alumna, led the Pirates with a .364 batting average, ranking No. 11 in the WSC North, and was fifth in the conference with a .659 slugging percentage. She was tied for third in the WSC North with five home runs and struck out just four times in 88 at bats in 2024. Defensively, the VC shortstop had a .960 fielding percentage with six errors in 150 fielding chances that included 50 putouts and 94 assists during the season.
Jacinto, a Buena High School product, slashed .353./405./451 and improved her hitting to a .419 average in conference play, 11th in the WSC North. She led the Pirates with 36 total hits on the season and struck out just three times in 102 at bats. Defensively she had a .945 fielding percentage splitting her time between catcher and the outfield.
After a slow start in 2024, the Pirates won seven of their final 13 games and finished 5-9 record in WSC North play.
