
The Pirate softball team used a four-run fourth inning to take a 4-2 lead, then added three more scores in the top of the seventh, leading to a 7-2 victory at Chaffey College Wednesday in Rancho Cucamonga. Sophomore Celeste Ekman was 3-3 with three runs batted in to lead the offense while Anissa Padilla threw the complete game for the win inside the circle.
The Panthers took the early 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the second inning before the Pirates' big frame in the fourth.
Offensively, the Pirates (4-1) had 11 hits in the game. Adriana Clemons was 2-3 with an RBI and Brittney Banales was 2-4 with two doubles. Danielle Carmona was also 2-4 at the dish while Arianna Rivas was 1-3 with a pair of runs batted in.
The Pirates' home opener is scheduled next, Friday Feb. 2 against Pasadena. First pitch is slated for 12:00 pm at the VC Softball Complex.
