
The VC women's tennis team had its 2025 season come to an end Friday at the 3C2A State Championships at The Ojai Tournament. Nicole Iannacone and Kira Branson advanced to the Round of 32 in the state doubles draw before falling on Friday. Lola Tennison and Chandra Padua made it to the Round of 64 on Thursday before bowing out in doubles. Iannacone, Tennison and Branson all fell in the Round of 64 in singles play Thursday.
Iannacone and Branson were the last Pirates standing, playing on Day 2 of the championships. After receiving a first round bye, the pair defeated a duo from Fresno 6-1, 6-0 in the Round of 64 Thursday. Friday they had their season come to an end in the Round of 32, 6-0, 6-0 against the top pair from the state champion American River team.
Tennison and Padua won their first match Thursday, 6-3, 6-2 against a duo from Solano. They then dropped their Round of 64 match against Mt. San Antonio, 6-2, 6-2.
In singles, Iannacone won her opening match against Diablo Valley 6-2, 6-2 before falling in the Round of 64 against an opponent from West Valley, 46, 6-1, 6-0. Branson also won her opening round match love and love against a player from Diablo Valley before falling 6-0, 6-3 against Foothill in the Round of 64. Tennison had a first round bye before her season ended 6-1, 6-1 against an opponent from Mt. SAC in the Round of 64.
With that, the Pirates ended their successful 2025 campaign. They finished the year 9-8 overall and 8-5 in Western State Conference play. The team also made the 3C2A Southern California Regional Playoffs for the second time in the past three years.
